The sprocket shaft assembly is a key transmission component of the scraper conveyor with high cost. In service, friction against the scraper chain tends to cause varying degrees of wear on the sprocket body or oil leakage of the assembly, disrupting production. To reduce costs, many customers choose remanufacturing to extend its service life. The surfacing cladding process is vital to the long-term operational stability.
The remanufacturing process starts with disassembly, inspection and cleaning of the used sprocket shaft assembly. Intelligent damage detection is performed, and a remanufacturing plan is confirmed with the customer before milling. Worn sections of the sprocket teeth are milled off to expose the base material, enabling sound fusion between the welding consumable and substrate.
The sprocket body is preheated for the first full surfacing welding, which is applied fully along the tooth profile path.
After surfacing, rough milling of the chain pockets is carried out. The chain pockets are machined to a larger dimension than the original ones, so that the special flux-cored wire developed by us can be well bonded in the second surfacing cladding.
For the second surfacing cladding, an automatic robot evenly deposits the special flux-cored wire onto the tooth surfaces based on preset tooth profile parameters.
The quality of surfacing cladding directly governs the reliability of the remanufactured sprocket body. Improper process control may result in cracks or spalling during operation, greatly shortening its service life.
